Who We Are
The Philippine Foundation for Cultural and Educational Development (PFCED) is a non-stock, non-profit organization established on 22 November 1965 to support the formation of students and young professionals seeking clarity, growth, and purpose.
For decades, PFCED has been dedicated to integrating cultural, educational, and spiritual development through programs that foster character, leadership, and a deep sense of responsibility. PFCED is committed to shaping men and women of integrity whose values guide their decisions and actions throughout life.
Our initiatives inspire individuals to excel professionally while remaining grounded in service, faith, and a genuine desire to contribute to the common good. By nurturing personal excellence and moral strength, PFCED creates a ripple effect that strengthens families, enriches workplaces, and uplifts communities for generations.
Ultimately, PFCED is about transforming lives - cultivating a space where faith, culture, and professional life come together to form Filipinos who lead with purpose, live with integrity, and strive to make a meaningful impact on society.
History
Since its establishment in 1965, the Philippine Foundation for Cultural and Educational Development, Incorporated (PFCED) has been committed to supporting the holistic formation of students and young professionals.
Guided by its mission to contribute effectively in providing the country with morally upright citizens who will work towards professional excellence, a growing concern for the social welfare and progress of the underprivileged, having always as a specific goal the development of the genuine cultural, moral and human values of the Filipino people, PFCED integrates cultural, educational, and spiritual development through its various programs and centers.
To ensure the depth and consistency of its Christian formation initiatives, PFCED entrusted the spiritual formation and pastoral care of those who participate in its activities to Opus Dei, a Personal Prelature of the Catholic Church dedicated to promoting holiness in everyday life.
Our Partnership
with Opus Dei
Opus Dei began its work in the Philippines in 1964, catalyzed by the return of two Harvard alumni, Bernardo Villegas and Jesus Estanislao. Inspired by the teachings of St. Josemaria Escriva, they joined three other men to found the PFCED, establishing centers for the formation of students, professionals and families. Currently, these facilities serve as key venues for the organization's talks, retreats, leadership training, and community outreach. The PFCED has two activity centers, four centers for Men, and 13 centers for Women. Through this enduring collaboration, PFCED and Opus Dei continue to be a seedbed for social change in the community and society through programs deeply grounded on Christian and human values.
"Your ordinary contact with God takes place where your fellow men, your yearnings, your work and your affections are. There you have your daily encounter with Christ."
— Saint Josemaria
Opus Dei is a Prelature of the Catholic Church with the mission of spreading the message that all people are called to holiness through their work, family life, and everyday responsibilities.
